North Dakota – The North Dakota Highway Patrol reported a fatal crash late Saturday night involving three vehicles about 10 miles west of Upham.

The crash occurred on August 23, 2025, at approximately 11:45 p.m. on 80th Street North. A 2006 Freightliner semi-truck was disabled on the westbound shoulder and partially in the roadway with its rear lights activated and emergency triangles placed at the back. A 2008 Dodge Ram 3500 was parked nose-to-nose in front of the Freightliner as its occupants attempted repairs.

According to investigators, a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado traveling westbound struck the rear of the semi-trailer combination. The 19-year-old driver of the Silverado, from Bottineau, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Dodge Ram, a 56-year-old man from Minot, and his 48-year-old passenger were not injured. The Freightliner was unoccupied at the time of the crash.

The collision remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol with assistance from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, Upham Fire, and Upham Ambulance.
