North Dakota – A collision between a BNSF train and a combine left one person dead Thursday morning, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at approximately 10:59 a.m. on October 9, 2025, on 133rd Avenue SE between 16th and 17th Street SE, about five miles northwest of Page.

Authorities said the combine was traveling south on a gravel road when it struck the front locomotive of a westbound BNSF train.

The impact caused the lead locomotive to catch fire, and about 20 train cars derailed, spilling cargo into nearby fields. The train’s engineer and conductor were able to escape before the fire and were not injured.

The driver of the combine died from injuries sustained in the crash. The North Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating.
