Bismarck, N.D. – The Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library recently welcomed families and community partners for its annual Summer Reading Kickoff, drawing a strong turnout and encouraging children to participate in the library’s summer reading program.
According to the library, attendees enjoyed a variety of activities during the event, and several children signed up for the Summer Reading program as the summer season begins.
Library officials thanked everyone who attended and helped make the event a success. A number of local organizations and volunteers participated, providing educational activities, entertainment, and opportunities for community engagement.
Among those who contributed to the event were guest reader Mayor Mike Schmitz, the Dakota Zoo, Gateway to Science, the Natural Resources Conservation Service, the North Dakota Mineral Resources Department, Northern Plains Dance, and the State Historical Society of North Dakota.
The library also recognized the efforts of volunteers who dedicated their time to support the event alongside staff from both the Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library and the Burleigh County Library.
Attendees were also able to enjoy refreshments from Luigi’s Ice Cream truck, which was on site serving frozen treats throughout the event.
Library officials said they were grateful for the community support and participation that helped create a memorable kickoff to this year’s Summer Reading program. The annual initiative is designed to encourage reading and learning throughout the summer months while providing educational and recreational opportunities for children and families.
The Summer Reading program is now underway, with participants encouraged to continue reading and taking part in activities offered through the library during the summer season.
