North Dakota – The North Dakota Highway Patrol reported a speeding stop in Hague after a driver was clocked traveling 55 mph in a 25 mph zone on Highway 11.
According to the Highway Patrol, the driver told troopers they were speeding because they were trying to get to Costco before it closed. The stop resulted in a $110 fine and nine points on the driver’s record.
Officials noted that while high-speed violations on interstates are often highlighted, excessive speed in lower speed-limit areas can be equally dangerous, particularly in small towns and residential zones.
The Highway Patrol emphasized that troopers patrol not only interstates and major highways but also smaller communities across the state. The agency said every speed limit is set for safety and urged drivers to slow down to help protect neighborhoods.
Authorities reiterated that speeding remains one of the leading factors in preventable crashes and encouraged motorists to follow posted limits regardless of urgency or destination.
