Bismarck, N.D. – The Bismarck Police Department is thanking residents after its annual Trunk or Treat event brought families together for an evening of Halloween festivities, with officers handing out approximately 30,000 pieces of candy.
In an Oct. 22 post on Facebook, the department said it was delighted to see familiar faces and new visitors attend the event, where children showed off their costumes and families enjoyed activities organized by local first responders.
“What an amazing night! We were so happy to see so many familiar and new faces come out for our Bismarck Police Department Trunk or Treat!” the department wrote.
Police said the event included the distribution of approximately 30,000 pieces of candy, along with numerous sticker badges and temporary tattoos for children.
The department also expressed appreciation for the volunteers, donors and community members who helped organize and attend the event, saying their participation made the evening a success.
Bismarck police were joined by members of the Bismarck Fire Department, as well as Renee and K9 Java from Mandan Cares, who also spent the evening with families.
The department said it was proud to serve the city and grateful for the community’s continued support of events that give residents opportunities to interact with local first responders outside of emergency situations.
“Seeing all the creative costumes, smiling faces, and families enjoying themselves made all the planning worth it!” the department said.
The event is part of the Halloween activities taking place across the Bismarck area, with police encouraging residents to continue enjoying upcoming community celebrations.
The department pointed families toward several additional events, including Zoo Boo, St. Mary’s Trunk or Treat and LETA Trunk or Treat.
Police closed their message by thanking residents for allowing the department to serve the community and expressing appreciation for everyone who helped make the gathering possible.
