North Dakota – A rollover crash on Interstate 29 sent several people, including children, to area hospitals Thursday afternoon, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. on July 3 near mile marker 95, about three miles north of Grandin. Authorities say a 2017 Ford Transit van was traveling south in the right lane when its left rear tire suddenly blew out. The vehicle veered into the west ditch, rolled, and came to a stop facing northwest.
Twelve people were inside the van at the time of the crash. The driver, a 34-year-old man from Arvilla, North Dakota, was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. A 35-year-old female passenger, also from Arvilla, sustained injuries. Eleven juveniles, ranging in age from 9 months to 16 years old, were also passengers in the van. All were reported to have non-life-threatening injuries and were wearing appropriate restraints.
Emergency responders from the Traill County Sheriff’s Office, Grandin Fire and Responders, Hillsboro Sanford Ambulance Service, West Traill Ambulance Service, and Agassiz Valley Human Services assisted at the scene. Injured occupants were transported to local medical facilities for treatment.
No charges have been filed, and the crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol. Road and weather conditions at the time were reported to be good.
