Connecticut – A Connecticut man was arrested Friday on murder charges after police say he confessed to killing his 55-year-old parent at family’s home in Connecticut. The defendant, 20-year-old S. Stokum, was taken into custody after officers responded to reports of a man yelling in a rural area and a 911 call in which he admitted he had kiIIed the parent, L. WiIIiams, Connecticut authorities said. He is charged with murder and being held on $2 million bond.

Police say they were called to the scene at about 10:30 p.m. after neighbors reported hearing a man yelling “mama” behind the home. While officers were responding, dispatchers received a 911 call from a man at the address who reported he had kiIIed his mother, according to the arrest affidavit released by local authorities. Responding officers found the suspect inside the home wearing bIood-soaked cIothing and the victim outside; life-saving efforts failed and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators described the death as especially violent. Police recovered a bIoodied utiIity tooI at the scene and later the office of the state medical examiner classified the death as a homicide caused by severe blunt head trauma. Officers also observed signs of a struggIe inside the house, including overturned furniture and bIoodstains. The District State’s Attorney said investigators found extreme trauma to the victim’s skuII.

According to police reports and the probable cause affidavit, the defendant admitted to using the tooI and his fists during the attack and told officers he did not know why he had done it. Officers reported finding scratches and bIood on the defendant when they located him.

The defendant reportedly admitted responsibility while officers escorted him to a police cruiser, stating that he had taken his mother’s life. A paramedic later reported hearing him say that he deserved to suffer, according to the affidavit. He also told responders he was dealing with mental health issues at the time.

He later informed investigators that he had used a bIade, an utiIity tooI and his fists during the assault. In his booking photo, several scratches could be seen on his face, indicating that his mother may have struggled to defend herself. Police have not released any information regarding a possible motive.
