Bismarck, ND – A 23-year-old woman from Minnesota was arrested in Cass County on January 8 after leading authorities on a reckless driving pursuit along Interstate 94. The incident began just after 4 p.m., when Barnes County authorities received a call reporting a dangerously erratic driver. The caller described the driver, later identified as the Minnesota woman, swerving across lanes and brake-checking other vehicles as she traveled east on I-94.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP) quickly responded and located the vehicle, a Nissan, near mile marker 320. Authorities attempted to stop the driver, but she refused to pull over, continuing to flee eastward. In an effort to end the pursuit safely, a trooper deployed a Stinger spike strip near mile marker 346, deflating three of the Nissan’s tires. Despite this, the driver continued her route and exited at the Sheyenne exit in West Fargo.

For the public’s safety, NDHP made the decision to end the pursuit. However, a short time later, the vehicle was located again by another trooper near mile marker 347 on I-94. The woman was subsequently arrested without further incident and transported to the Cass County Jail.

Authorities indicated that the woman faces several charges, including Reckless Endangerment (a felony), Fleeing a Police Officer (a felony), DUI-Drugs (a misdemeanor), and Possession of THC Paraphernalia (an infraction). Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the pursuit.

The NDHP is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, while local authorities stress the importance of maintaining road safety and cooperation with law enforcement.
