North Dakota – Law enforcement agencies temporarily closed northbound lanes of Interstate 29 at 52nd Avenue in Fargo on Thursday afternoon as officers responded to a mental health emergency involving a male individual.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol, in coordination with the Fargo Police Department and the North Dakota Department of Transportation, redirected traffic and advised drivers to avoid the area while the situation was resolved. The incident caused notable delays, and traffic was diverted for several hours as a safety precaution.
According to officials, the emergency response was centered around a man experiencing a mental health crisis. No injuries were reported, and authorities focused on ensuring the individual’s safety while maintaining public order.
The roadway was fully reopened at approximately 5:25 p.m., following a peaceful resolution. Law enforcement did not release additional details about the individual involved but used the opportunity to remind the public of available mental health resources.
