Bismarck, ND – Before adjourning for the holiday break, the U.S. Senate passed a bipartisan bill aimed at advancing the construction of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library. The legislation is designed to provide support for the establishment, preservation, and display of materials that document the life and legacy of the 26th President of the United States.

Senator John Hoeven of North Dakota, a key proponent of the bill, highlighted the significance of Roosevelt’s time in the state, noting that the former president often credited his North Dakota experiences as pivotal to his rise to the presidency. “As President Teddy Roosevelt proudly claimed, he would not have ascended to the presidency had it not been for his formative years in North Dakota,” Hoeven said. He emphasized that the bill is crucial in moving the project forward, with the Senate’s approval being a critical step in the process. Hoeven expressed optimism that the legislation will continue to gain support in Congress and ultimately become law.

The bill’s passage represents a major step in the effort to bring the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library to fruition. Once completed, the library will serve as a lasting tribute to Roosevelt’s contributions to the nation and provide future generations with a comprehensive understanding of his life and legacy.

Senator Kevin Cramer, also a supporter of the bill, emphasized the library’s potential to immerse visitors in the world of Theodore Roosevelt. “This legislation will help bring to life the many facets of Roosevelt’s character and leadership,” Cramer said. “Visitors will be able to explore artifacts from all stages of his life and learn about the impact he had on the nation.”

The library is currently under construction in Medora, North Dakota, with completion expected in 2026. Once finished, the facility will house an extensive collection of Roosevelt’s personal artifacts, letters, and documents, offering an in-depth look at his life, leadership, and enduring influence on American history.

With the Senate’s approval of this important legislation, efforts to complete the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library are now one step closer to becoming a reality.
