Georgia – A young mom from Georgia, later identified as 22-year-old Alanah, was taken into custody and later charged with multiple charges, including attempted murder, reckIess abandonment of a child, and first-degree cruelty to children. These charges stem from the discovery of her newborn baby, who was found left in a trrash bag on the back porch of her home.
The investigation process began last week when the defendant’s boyfriend noticed she was experiencing excessive bIeeding. Concerned for her well-being, he transported her to the emergency room around 1:08 p.m. Before leaving, the woman placed a trrash bag on the back porch of their home.
After admitting the woman to the hospital, her boyfriend returned to their home to retrieve personal belongings. While there, he heard noises coming from the bag on the porch. Investigating further, he discovered a newborn baby boy wrapped in towels. Immediately, he rushed the child to the hospital, where medical staff reported the baby was in critical but stable condition.
An investigation by the Sheriff’s Office revealed that the woman had given birth at approximately 4:30 a.m. on March 31. Following the birth, she wrapped the baby in towels, placed him inside a trash bag, and left him on the porch. Notably, she had not informed her partner of her pregnancy or the birth, nor did she notify medical staff upon her arrival at the hospital.
Following her release from the hospital on April 1, the woman was taken into custody by investigators. She was booked into the county detention center, where her bond was denied. The charges against her include criminal attempt to commit feIony murder, reckless abandonment of a child, and first-degree cruelty to children.
This case underscores the gravity of abandoning a newborn and the severe legal consequences that can ensue. The infant’s survival and current condition are attributed to the timely discovery and medical intervention facilitated by his attentive father.
