Wisconsin – A Wisconsin man, 67-year-old MichaeI, was taken into custody and is now facing multiple felony charges following an alleged vioIent aItercation with his spouse, 68-year-old KimberIy. According to police, the incident began when the victim confronted the defendant over his faiIure to batthe for approximately two months and insisted he not sIeep in her cIean sheets until he did so. Wisconsin authorities say the complaint lists charges including substantial battery, strangulation and suffocation, domestic abuse intimidation of a victim, and misdemeanor disorderly conduct, all enhanced due to the victim’s age.

Officers responded to a 911 call made by the victim, who had fled to a neighbor’s home seeking safety. When officers arrived at the couple’s residence, they observed the victim with visible facial injuries, including a swoIIen, possibly broken nose and other signs of trauma. She was immediately transported to a hospital for treatment.

During their investigation, police interviewed the victim and documented her account in a criminal complaint. She said that when she confronted her spouse about his hygiene, he reacted violently. According to the complaint, the victim tried to set boundaries by telling him he couldn’t sIeep in her cIean sheets until he sho wered. The defendant allegedly pushed back and, when she tried to move away, grabbed her midsection and neck. She reported being unable to breathe for several seconds, before he punched her in the face three times with a closed fist. She also claimed he twisted her left ankle during the attack.

The defendant was also questioned at the scene. He acknowledged he had not sho wered for about three weeks, but he denied initiating physical violence. He told police that the victim attacked him first and that he only back-handed her once in self-defense. However, investigators noted that the injuries documented on the victim were far more consistent with her version of events than the defendant’s explanation.

The criminal complaint also mentions concerns about the defendant’s mental health. The victim reported that he had been diagnosed with early-onset dementia and experienced delusional episodes, which she believed contributed to his violent behavior. She stated that he had refused treatment for these conditions over the past year.

The local police department assembled evidence from the scene, including photos of the victim’s injuries and witness statements, to support the charges against the defendant. Based on their findings, they believed there was probable cause to arrest him on felony domestic abuse-related charges. He was booked into the county jail on June 22, held on a $5,000 cash bond, and is scheduled to appear in court on July 1, 2025.

As of now, the defendant remains in custody. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities reviewing additional evidence and awaiting further legal proceedings. The victim continues to recover from her injuries, and the criminal case is set to proceed under Wisconsin’s enhanced statutes for domestic abuse involving elderly victims.
