North Dakota – The North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP) has issued a warning to the public about scam calls from individuals falsely claiming to represent the NDHP or the Troopers Association.
According to a statement released by the agency, the scammers are using phone numbers with a 701 area code, and in some instances, the caller ID may display “N Dakota Chapt” to appear legitimate. NDHP emphasized that it will nevercall individuals to ask for money.
“Do not share any personal or financial information with them,” the department advised.
Authorities are urging anyone who receives such a call to hang up immediately. Those who may have already shared financial information are advised to contact their bank as soon as possible.
The NDHP has not released additional details about the scope or origin of the scam but is advising residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activity.
