Bismarck, ND — A fatal rollover crash occurred Wednesday afternoon near Buxton, resulting in the death of a 39-year-old woman and life-threatening injuries to a 74-year-old man.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the two occupants were traveling north on Interstate 29 when the driver lost control of their compact SUV around 3:15 p.m. The vehicle veered off the icy road, entered the ditch, and subsequently overturned. Both individuals were ejected from the vehicle during the crash.
The woman, whose identity has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 74-year-old man, also not named, was transported to a hospital in Fargo with life-threatening injuries.
The state patrol’s report noted that neither occupant was wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, and the airbags in the vehicle did not deploy. Investigators are currently working to determine who was driving at the time of the incident.
