North Dakota – A 26-year-old man from Fargo was killed Saturday morning in a crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV at a four-way stop intersection in south Fargo, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. on June 7 at the intersection of 36th Street South and Westrac Drive South. According to authorities, the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on 36th Street at a high rate of speed when he failed to stop at the posted stop sign. As he entered the intersection, he struck the passenger side of a 2018 Ford Expedition that had been traveling eastbound on Westrac Drive and had stopped as required before proceeding into the crossing.
The impact of the T-bone collision caused both the motorcycle and SUV to come to a stop within the intersection. The rider, who was wearing a helmet, died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.
The driver of the Ford Expedition, a 47-year-old man from West Fargo, was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured. A 55-year-old female passenger in the SUV, also from West Fargo, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Both occupants were restrained at the time of the collision.
Road and weather conditions were reported to be good at the time of the crash. Emergency response to the scene included the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Fargo Police Department, and Sanford Ambulance.
Authorities say the incident remains under investigation and no charges have been filed as of this time. The name of the deceased motorcyclist has not been released, pending family notification.
