Bismarck, N.D. – Sunshine, smiles, and plenty of fishing rods made for a memorable day at the 2025 Cops-N-Kids Fishing Derby, hosted by the Bismarck Police Department. The annual event brought together local children, law enforcement officers, and volunteers for a day of outdoor fun and connection on the water.
Participants enjoyed casting lines and cruising the lake, with perfect weather setting the tone for the event’s success. Officers and kids alike shared in the excitement, highlighting the department’s ongoing commitment to positive community engagement.
This year, the Bismarck Police Department was proud to present the 2025 Myron “Duffy” Heinle Difference Maker Award to two outstanding individuals:

Amanda Fuller, accepting on behalf of her late husband, Officer Clint Fuller, in recognition of his many years of devoted service to the derby.

Rick Schuchard, honored for his consistent dedication and the meaningful impact he’s had on the children who fish from his boat each year.
The event also saw participation from top local officials, including Police Chief Draovitch, Burleigh County Sheriff Jesse Leben, North Dakota Game and Fish Warden Jerad Bluem, and officers from the Mandan Police Department, all coming together to celebrate the kids’ accomplishments.
